Windows on Tippecanoe
The Downtown Tipp City Partnership and Tipp Monroe Community Services are proud to present Windows on Tippecanoe, a summer-long art installation to be located in historic downtown Tipp City during the summer months of 2008.
The event, also listed on Discover Ohio, is expected to attract many visitors to Tipp City. Logo courtesy of Christina Brownlee at Clever Girl Designs.
Description
Area artists will be creating unique and original works of art, fashioned to appear as windows and covered with frames to complete the illusion. To see a list of the artists involved, click here. Upwards of 50 of these original creations will adorn a downtown local building for the public and visitors to view and enjoy. This celebration of our local community through art will be displayed from June 14 to September 21st in downtown Tipp City. Near the close of the installation, a Windows on Tippecanoe Gala will be held on October 4. Invited guests and locals will be invited to participate in a live auction of the artworks.
How to Get Involved
Sponsors are Needed! Sponsors will support the creation and display of the installation, with ample advertising opportunities. Proceeds from supporting the installation will go toward the creation of a permanent Tippecanoe Arts Council to promote and develop visual, musical, physical and literary arts locally. Please contact Ellen Cotterman at ekcotterman@gmail.com or Kathy Taylor at ktaylor@tmcomservices.org for more information and to sponsor the installation.
The Windows on Tippecanoe Gala will be held in September to auction the art to local collectors and interested parties. Proceeds from this event will go to support the Downtown Tipp City Partnership, a local organization dedicated to enhancing, preserving, and promoting downtown Tipp City by bringing together diverse organizations and foster growth, business development, prosperity, and good will. Recent projects of the DTCP include the Tippecanoe Farmers’ Market and the new Tipp Community Guide. Please contact Matt Owen at mowen@tippcitychamber.org for more information or to support this event.
The Windows on Tippecanoe Committee is looking for additional volunteers to assist with this months-long project. Please contact Molly Spencer at mollypspencer@verizon.net for more information.

I am looking forward to seeing all the paintings the other artists have submitted. Each artist’s interpretation of what is going on inside the window intrigues me. What a wonderful concept “Windows on Tippecanoe”!
